Be Bold Games: Code of Conduct
At Be Bold Games we hold our community to a high standard. We believe in a pluralistic future and we pride ourselves on diversity, inclusion and equity. As a result, we want to ensure that our community knows what we expect of them in all community spaces both online and offline. This code of conduct applies to all Be Bold Games Sponsored spaces, including our blog, mailing lists, social media sites as well as any other spaces that Be Bold Games hosts both online and offline. Anyone who violates the code of conduct may be sanctioned or expelled from these spaces at the discretion of the Be Bold Games Anti-Abuse Team.
Some Be Bold games spaces may have additional rules in place, which will be made clearly available to participants. Participants are responsible for knowing and abiding by these rules.
In order to protect volunteers from abuse and burnout, we reserve the right to reject any report we believe to have been made in bad faith. The Be Bold Games Anti-Abuse Team is not here to explain power differentials or other basic social justice concepts to you. Reports intended to silence legitimate criticism may be deleted without response.
We will respect confidentiality requests for the purpose of protecting victims of abuse. At our discretion, we may publicly name a person about whom we’ve received harassment complaints, or privately warn third parties about them, if we believe that doing so will increase the safety of Be Bold Games members or the general public. We will not name harassment victims without their affirmative consent.
Community Guidelines:
Be Bold Games expects its community members to advocate for and demonstrate inclusive behavior in an effort to create a more positive board game community as a whole. As a result, we ask that all of our community members follow the community guidelines in any and all Be Bold Games spaces including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitch, TikTok and our website.
Be Friendly: Our goal is to grow the board game community to people beyond the core of the industry. Welcome them by being friendly and helpful if you can.
Be Patient: Understand that not everyone is online all the time and everyone is fighting their own battles. Be kind to people whenever possible, when it’s not, utilize that block button.
Be Welcoming: We strive to be a community that welcomes and supports people of all backgrounds and identities. This includes but it not limited to members of any race, ethnicity, culture, national origin, skin color, immigration status, social and economic class, educational level, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age size, family status, religion and mental and physical ability.
Be Considerate: Any decisions you take online will affect users and colleagues, and you should take those consequences into account when making decisions. remember that we are a world-wide community, so you might not be communicating in someone else’s primary language.
Be Respectful: While disagreements do happen, it’s not an excuse for poor behavior or poor manners. Do not allow disagreements to devolve into harassment. We want to build a community where people feel safe and we know this cannot happen in a space where people feel uncomfortable or threatened.
Be Thoughtful: Choose your words carefully, understanding that the board game industry is a network of both hobbyists and professionals who are globally connected. Do not insult, put down, or harass other community members.
Should a community member be found harassing any other community members, Be Bold Games reserves the right to remove them from our websites as well as the right to block anyone who engages in harassing any of our content creators or community members.
