Just One: How to Play

We’ve all played party games like Charades or Pictionary. Then along came games like Wits and Wagers and Codenames. With that said, my newest favorite party game is even simpler and more accessible than those games and it’s called Just One.

In Just One, there is always one player who can not see the card in front of them. It’s facing away from them so that the other players can see it. Before starting the round they select a number correlating to a word on the card which can be 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5.

Then each of the other players identify the word the player chose by looking at the card and they write down one word correlating to that word but they have to be careful! The next step is that all players who are not guessing compare the words they wrote down with the other words the other players wrote down! If any of them match then they’ll be erased and the person guessing will have that many fewer clues to guess from.

In our game group we play this game cooperatively and try to see how many guesses we can get correctly guessed in a row. The rulebook has a handy chart that will tell you how well you did. And that’s how you play Just One. Tell us in the comments below which word you would write down for this one:

Be Bold, Play Games, Be You! Happy gaming!
