Frenemy Pastry Party: How to Play

Rumor has it that everyone has been spending a lot of time on an island with adorable creatures collecting fruit these days. No, I’m not talking about Animal Crossing. Today I’m going to teach you how to play Frenemy Pastry Party!

To set up the game, start by giving each player a character card but keep this information a secret. Depending on the adorable animal you are given, you’ll score various bonus points. You’ll need to play tactfully so the other players don’t catch on to your hidden objectives! Most of them are attempting to gain a specific kind of ingredient, except the Otter, who is trying to gain the otter ones. Sorry, I mean, He’s trying to obtain sets of all 5 ingredients.

Then the players will flip over 3 total recipes from the shuffled recipe deck and put them on the table. When these are taken, they’ll be replenished.

Then someone will shuffle the ingredients deck and flip the top 5 cards and put them face up on the table.

On your turn you can do one of two things! You either gain an ingredient from the row of ingredients or you can attempt to bake a recipe! With that said, you’re not alone in this kitchen, which means you can ask the other players for help!

The player who is looking to bake their good turns to another player and asks for their assistance with, for example, a Chocolate ingredient because they are one short.

Then the other player is given the opportunity to either help, or not. If the player you choose to ask says yes, you can continue asking them for more and more ingredients, until they say no. Then, they can ask another player to help! Then after they’ve asked all the players they want to add to the baked good, they can add their own ingredients!

If baked goods do not have the required ingredients, then the baking fails and the player has wasted their turn! But, you only get to ask for help until you receive a total of 2 “no”s! After that you may bake the cake with the ingredients that you have and what was agreed to contribute by the other players. If you can’t bake your cake then your turn is over and either way, the turn passes to the next player's turn. If the good is successfully baked, however, the player who chose to bake it puts it face down in front of them into what we call, their personal scoring pile. The players who contributed ingredients also put the ones they contributed face down into their personal scoring pile.

The game ends when there are either no recipes left or no ingredients left on the table when a player goes to refill them! Players will score 1 point for every banked ingredient and 5 points for every banked recipe. They also score bonus points for their character card. The cat gains 3 points if they have the most blueberries, The Tanuki gains 2 if they have the most chocolate, The Shiba gains 3 points if they have the most Kiwi, the bunny gains 3 points if they have the most strawberrys, the guinea pig gains 3 points if they have the most mango and finally, the otter gains 3 points if they have a full set of all 5 ingredients! The player with the most points at the end of the game is the winner! And that's how you play Frenemy pastry party! Thanks so much for watching and tell us below what your favorite animal is!
